Step out

It's great being surrounded by what you know. When you eat everyday the same thing there is no need to spend time reading about recipes or choosing between options by the restaurant's table. If you go everyday to the same places you can do the walking with your eyes closed and you know each details of the way. Being with the friends you know since 5th grade is amazing because you know each other just like siblings. But at some point of your life didn't you ever thought about what is beyond that?

Being locked inside yourself is comfortable. And what I mean with "yourself" is all the routine you are used to. What you eat, where you go, things you think about, the language you speak, the people you get in contact, the clothes you wear, the weather of your place and so on. But when you are so locked in what you are you don't get the chance to discover what you could be. How your life could be.

Actually, if you think in a critic way everything people are is a product of the place they lived, things they heard, values taught by family, situations experienced with friends, etc. Of course personality matters, but we have always been so influenced by what is around us that is hard to understand what you want, what you think and who you are. If you've been surrounded by the same ambient your whole life how to know if your preferences are really yours?

Go outside the cave you've spent your whole life is a great way to discover that. And please don't understand "cave" in a negative way. They can be calming and cozy. The point is that a cave is always somewhere waiting to be discovered. And once you leave behind the atmosphere that was around you your whole life you can get the chance to identify what really came into you and what is now part of you and not simply other people's ideas.

For that, all you need is to choose a path that leads outside the cave. When you get by the exit it's normal to be afraid. You have been used to that amount of light for so long that when there is any change in this way you will feel a bit blind and won't see much of what's waiting outside.

The only way is to step out.
